About toaudio
toaudio turns posts on X into audio, including other people's posts.
A lot of the best writing on X is long: long posts, threads, X Articles. It's written to be read, but much of the day you're walking, commuting or cooking. You can listen then, but you can't read. toaudio is for those moments. Reply to a post with @toaudioapp and we reply with a link. Open it and press play. There's nothing to install and no account to create.
Where we are today
As of October 2026, toaudio is a beta in early validation. Here is how it works right now:
- A small team. Two people run toaudio.
- Free to start. Free use comes with the allowance shown on our Pricing page. Pro is a paid subscription. We charge for Pro rather than run ads or sell data.
- English only, AI voices. We read English posts in a computer-generated (text-to-speech) voice. Free readings use one voice; Pro readings use a better one.
- One piece at a time. A regular post, a long post, an X Article or a public web article. Whole threads aren't supported yet.
What we care about
- The words belong to their author. Every listening page links back to the original. The voice is synthetic, not the author's, and a reading doesn't mean the author endorsed it or us. See If you wrote the post or article.
- No ads, no third-party tracking. We don't sell your data. We count listens ourselves with a first-party cookie and a hash of your IP address and browser, never the raw IP. See our Privacy Policy.
- We say what's true today. Our Pricing page marks anything that isn't available yet as planned or coming.
If you wrote the post or article
Did someone ask us to read your post or article aloud, and you'd rather we didn't? Message @toaudioapp on X or email team@toaudio.app with a link to it or the listening page. We'll turn off its listening links, delete the audio and not read it again. We aim to do this within 24 hours.
